The Northport Nautical Mile is a fun and fast downhill 1.15 miles that that celebrates and promotes Northport’s nautical nature, village charm, and community spirit.
Used by sailors a nautical mile is one minute of arch measured along any meridian,used by us runners it is 1.15 downhill road miles.
The Northport Nautical Mile is a fun and fast downhill 1.15 miles that that celebrates and promotes Northport’s nautical nature, village charm, and community spirit. - There will be an unofficial clock at the 1 mile mark.
Race Starts at Laurel Ave School (same place as the Great Cow Harbor 10k), and runs north on Laurel to Main Street, then turn left and run downhill, through the village, ending at the harbor's edge where participants will have raffles and an awards ceremony at the town gazebo, as well as enjoy a farmers market and the annual Blessing of the Fleet event in the harbor.
Bib pickup day of race only - starts 7:30am must pick up by 8:45 am
Female wave starts 9:00am / Male wave starts 9:15am
Nautical themed trophies for top 3 overall and masters
Awards for top 3 in age group (5 year increments)
All finishers will receive a quality giveaway at the finish line
Optional tee shirts will be available for sale in the park after the race
New for 2016 - $250 for the male/female that sets a new course record - complements of the Observer
New for 2016 - Team/Crew spirit award. Be creativive and have your crew show thier nautical spirit
Net proceeds from this year's race will go to benefit Sea Scouts and the American Legion. Both fantastic organizations with long histories and strong community focus.
